Science has proven the human brain is not built to do multiple things at once.
We've been taught it is a skill to be proud of turning our hand to multiple tasks at once.
Whatever environment we place ourselves in our body comes to know that environment as normal.
To speed up, to slow down the body only adapts. Slow down and go deeper, if you want to get where you want to be faster. The body will set that as the new standard and keep turning up the dial every time you ask it to.
The problem? Divided attention. Our ability to listen and respond is grossly reduced. Our whole self is not available and the longer we keep expending our energy in multiple ways burn out can ensue.
Slowing down has everything else melt away.
It does not mean you have any less to do. What it does mean is that slowing down lands you sweetly (sometimes uncomfortably), right here.
Being with one task, one moment, one project at one time, enables your entire nervous system to become available.
When we slow down, we have the opportunity to go deeper if we have the courage to do so.
The reward?
Our breathe becomes our teacher, our leader. We begin to hear our rhythm, our own personal drum that is leading us, nudging us, shaping us to turn this way or that.
We come into conversation with our body, the one who knows the way and, he or she tells us the best and fastest way to our destination.
We have all faculties on board.
When we multi task we flush all of those gems down the drainpipe.
We split our precious selves in many different ways.
When we slow down, the world is our oyster, we get to consciously have ALL of us available, allowing us to attain and reach our intended goal more swiftly.
Now let me ask the question, where is it you move from and which place do you want to move?
With all my heart,
Amanda
